Dungeons & Dragons Rotating DM's Game League

PENCIL DICE AND CHARACTER SHEET

Beginning Date: January 2007

Ending Date: June 2008

Introduction

Join us one Sunday a month for a regularly scheduled Dungeons & Dragons game. Check our calendar for the next game. Players can bring the same character from session-to-session or create a new character of the appropriate level (see table below) for each session. A different DM will run a game of the appropriate level each session.

Dates/Times

On Game day, please arrive at the store by 12 Noon for character review. The game will run from 1pm-5:30pm.  The game will be followed by a DM's dinner which begins at 6pm.

Format

4-6 players per table

  1. Up to 2 DMs running 2 different games at any one time

  2. Setting will be generic, with the option of unique settings (Eberron, Forgotten Realms, etc) being run by DMs with store approval on scheduled game days.

  3. Players must turn in characters’ race and class by the Monday before the game, so the DM may prepare the adventure.

  4. Character death will not be permanent, and players always have the option of making a new character at the appropriate level

Rules

  1. All starting characters will begin at the level specified on the table below. The character will be created using the following rules:

    1. 32-point buy for Ability scores

    2. Any non-evil alignment is allowed

    3. Appropriate level character wealth (including magic item purchases)

    4. Hit points beyond 1st level are “half Hit Die +1” plus Con modifier

    5. Any race and class allowed, as long as rules are retained along with character.

    6. When purchasing items for your character, no more that 20% of your base wealth can be spent on temporary magic items i.e.) potions, scrolls, and anything with charges.

    7. Items with charges can be purchased at a per charge rate. i.e.) Wand of cure light wounds normally has 50 charges, you can buy a wand with 10 charges and would cost 150 gp

    8. The style of the rotating game does not allow for crafting to happen, so crafting bonus feats can be substituted with any other general feat that you have pre-requisites.

  2. Player rewards will be given per session (once per month)

    1. Experience will be enough to raise characters to next level once every two sessions or once every session (see table below)

    2. If players do not participate in a game, then total character wealth will be 2/3 of that shown on page 135 of DMG (past 3rd level) . Participation grants 1/6 extra character wealth per session, up to max character wealth for character level . Treasure rewards given during game will translate to this wealth, so that characters may purchase personalized items for their characters between games

    3. DMs will receive bonus character wealth for their characters when they run sessions, equal to double participation reward (1/3 instead of 1/6, and not limited by max character wealth table

  3. All players start the session with the base gold of the level of the session being played.  Players that participate in games will accumulate bonus gold which can be used in future sessions.  DMs will receive double the amount of bonus gold that players receive for participation.  Bonus gold can be used in anyway the player sees fit, including purchase of temporary magic items.  Reference chart below.
